With it's beautiful location on Long Island Sound, much of the activity in Old Saybrook revolves around the beach and shore line, weather permitting.  Take a walk along beautiful Harvey's Beach, where you can swim and children can play on the playground.  Considered to be one of the best beaches in Connecticut, Harvey's Beach is also popular for guests to enjoy fishing and boating.  You can help but enjoy the view over the water or at one of the town's marinas.

Speaking of boating, watersports are also very popular.  Try your hand at sailing or kayaking.  Book a Sport Fishing Charter or Boat Tour.  Visit South Cove for waterfowl hunting, hunting, and fishing.  And no visit to Old Saybrook would be complete without seeing the two lighthouses that date from the 1800s.  The Lynde Point Light or Lynde Point Lighthouse, also known as Saybrook Inner Lighthouse and the Saybrook Breakwater Lighthouse which sits in the mouth of the Connecticut River and can be seen from Lynde Point.

Enjoy the outdoors on a hike in Town Park, Great Cedars West Conservation Area or Great Cedars East or visit Town Green the quaint downtown square with a gazebo where festivals and town events take place.

History buffs will love Old Saybrook.  Your first stop should be at the Chamber of Congress where you can pick up a map for a self-guided walking tour. The tour provides detail on historical buildings in town. The Old Saybrook Historical Society is housed at the General William Hart House which was built in 1767 and has lovely gardens. And you will definately want to stop at Fort Saybrook.  Fort Saybrook Monument Park is a 17-acre park with storyboards that depict the history of the Saybrook Colony. 

The 9-hole Fenwick Golf Course offers another great way to enjoy the beauty of Old Saybrook.  The Fenwick Golf Course in CT boasts 2,840 yards of beautiful golfing slopes and grass. Get out into the sunshine and enjoy the views of coastal Connecticut while improving your backswing.  Not ready to hit the links?  Kids of all ages will love Mini Golf at Saybrook Point.

Culturally inclined?  The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center—“The Kate” is a 250-seat theatre and a small museum honoring Katharine Hepburn.  The center includes a theater where you can see musical acts, theater productions and screenings of Hepburn's films.  Or take a stroll along Main Street and stop into the small shops and Art Galleries along the way.  With a number of Antique, Gift and Specialty Shops, Old Saybrook, CT is the perfect place to find that unique gift or "find" for yourself!
